Adjacent to the cathedral, this is the oldest front on the city walls and one located on one of the most beautiful walks in the city. It is also the most extensive section of the three areas into which the fortifications have been divided, and dates back to the time of the old city of Navarrería.

The opening-up to the public of the former sentry walk around 1960 and the gradual recovery of the walk have enabled Pamplona to once again reoccupy its dominant position high above the Arga River as the City-Fortress it once was.
